I know that the only reason that you didn't directly bash my top 3 is that symphonic is good when mixed with black, you like some power, and Avant-Garde being in my top 3 means that I'm not a hopeless case.

| While the above statement is completely true, my top 3 is still superior | |

| "symphonic" isn't an actual genre. It cannot exist without supporting one of the actual Metal subgenres. | |

| I dunno, some symphonic stuff seems to have difficulty fitting into actual subgenres. Therions newest album, for example doesnt seem to be anything other than symphonic metal, it just doesnt seem to fit with any other genre. | |

| There might be exceptions, but we can't just make a genre for every band, since ever band is unique anyways (no matter how generic).
"symphonic" is just another word for flashy keys. Nightwish is Symphonic Power Metal, Dimmu Borgir is Symphonic Black Metal.

| Im actually gonna agree with you, Therion is the only one I can think of that doesnt fit into a subgenre, and even then only their newer material seems to be plain symphonic. The rest is symphonic death metal. | |

| If symphonic metal was a genre, then it would sound like this:

...and not metal. | |

| LOL at the guy who said listening to Anette made his teeth itch. And ballads annoy me. Not metal. | |

| That's actually my favorite Nightwish song...
I love ballads, if done right. Though, they can be terrible.

| Call me insane/retarded/whatever but Ive never really been able to get into old Nightwish like Oceanborn or Wishmaster. I mean its good, but it just doesnt have that hook to make me listen to it again and again.
And theres just something about ballads; maybe its the lack of energy or the calmer nature but they just dont hook me.
You may now begin laughing/flaming/crying in exasperation.

| I know I'm obsessed with them, but Tyranny have the best use of keyboards, ever. So epic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjZlU8lHs3A False. You can find better usage in Dead Can Dance, Faith No More, or any number of other bands. Although this is quite good. As for sub-genre's Doom Sludge Stoner Melo-death Avant-garde Progressive

I can't help it if you have placed such limitations on your musical palette.

| Since I can't stand Patton that means I'm closed minded for sure.
I mean, I can listen to Gangsta Rap, Bluegrass, and all forms of Heavy Metal but if I don't like Patton I guess I'm limiting myself far too much.

Couldn't have said it better myself. And just because you listen to gangsta, bluegrass, and all forms of metal doesn't exactly make your taste eclectic, my boy.
