| I'm quite taken with this band's first release. It certainly leaves me wanting to hear more from this artist from the use of oboe (hellzyeah) to the various folk elements to the varied feel of each song. They stretch through several genres incorporating black metal vocals with rather diverse female vocals. The BM vocals come from the lead singer of Twilight Ophera, who has been one of my favorite BM vocalist, though since I am not fond of the overall genre, I'm sure my view of vocal tastes may not be shared by a majority of BM fans. However, the vocals complement each other very well, and the band certainly has much to build upon for future albums. Here are a couple of my favorites from the album:
Crimfall - Ascension Pyre https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI__zqRlr88
Crimfall - Hundred Shores Distant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXqnnFXEPTs

| Yeah, it's like a more folksy unexpect, as far as vocal mixture and song variety go. | |

| The bands pretty average in my opinion, its just the black metal vocals that prevent them being a truly great band and leave them as a very average band.
Still, the above songs are pretty good, but the album overall is quite average.

Not all BM vocals suck, look at Unexpect, Vesperian Sorrow, Tvangeste, etc, all of which are some form of BM, none of which have shite vocals. With BM vocals they're either really good or horrendous, 50/50 shot every time

| I wasnt referring to black metal vocals in general, although I agree there is an increased chance of crap when exploring the genre. I was referring to the BM vocals used by Crimfall, which unfortunately fall within the catergory of "crap". | |

| I know, but you worded it in a way that generalized that, since they use BM vocals, they were automatically crap, be more specific next time | |

| I like the BM vocals in Crimfall. Though I'm not a fan of BM in general. | |

I don't mind them, they're tollerable, nothing horrible, but very far from my favorite BM vocals, which would have to be those of Tvangeste (unless you count Vesania's vocals, but they're more along the lines of Death growls)
