Has anyone here heard Battlelore? Their songs are about wars and battles (obviously) and their newest albm is truly epic.

Here are a couple of samples:

I particularly like the contrast between male and female vocals, and how it mixes with the albums epic feeling.

I havent listened to much of their older material but I dont think it has the epic nature of that album, though their older stuff is suppossed to be better, though I dont agree from the samples I've heard.

I dunno, it really depends, some bands progress, some regress, good example of a band that has regressed is Metallica...probably the best example of regression in existence...good example of a band that has progressed is Unexpect. Can't really say much for these guys as I've only heard their new stuff which I like well enough

I suppose its what style a band breaks through with; if they change it their original fans will almost always critisize them for not caring about their fans and being sellouts, without giving the music a chance to grow on them because their expectations have been let down.

Cryptopsy is a good example of that (though Lord Worm's vocals just sucked to begin with...really hard, their old fans probably just couldn't recognize good music anymore...though the new guy isn't very good either, but still a MUCH better growler than Wormy)
