PostSubject: From The Bottom of my AIDS   From The Bottom of my AIDS EmptySat Aug 15, 2009 5:50 pm

Well when I write things I do just the opposite of that. I could almost say I improvise my songs but I don't, since its something that kinda takes me over when I record. All riffs just kinda shoot out of my fingers when I play guitar and the drumming I do usually just comes out, sometimes not perfect but that always gives the music a sorta personality rather than perfect polished always on time precision drumming or guitaring or singing.

There was one thing that the homo from Gorgoroth said "I never write down lyrics because they lose their meaning", I kinda shrugged and proceeded on eating my sandwich and then said maybe he means just dont write lyrics, let them come from you. So since then I been just singing whatever comes to my mind after concentrating on the current song topic(I usually have a title before I even play a riff or think up a lyric) and then just let it blast away through my teeth.

I also find that experimenting and just "Fucking Around" helps writing also. Most times when a string breaks on my guitar in an awkward place, lets say the D or G, I will still play guitar as if it was never there and I end up writing very cool and different riffs from what I usually do. You all should try that if you are a guitarist. I also find that feedback does some nice stuff with riffs for guitar AND bass, stand close with it up loud with some Delay and phaser on that shit and just fuck around, you might like what you hear.

Also another method I use with writing, most important I think, is to purify one's mind. If you are going to try the improv/from the heart style of writing a song/album like I do you must purify yourself of all outside influence. Relax and concentrate on the subject and way you want to write your music, or even, Dont. Just let it flow. Dont listen to a bunch of <insert band name or genre here> before you record otherwise you will be too influenced by that certain sound therefore lose your own natural sound which you have developed over the years of playing. If you do that you will definitely come out with some different results than you thought you would, and who knows, maybe even make a new style of music like so many other experimentors did before.

I also like to look at pictures. Not of nature and lakes and bla bla bla. Mainly at people and drawing of cartoons that I really like and feel strongly connected to, to gain a sort of inspiration from the picture forcing me to write a song or a riff about it. Then I go from there. I remember reading this one article about a group of girls from Guangdong who were beating the shit out of this one naked girl and about these street riots down there also and about these guys/girls who caught some girl who stole money from their class and made her strip and beat her a little bit(from what I remember there was beating in this one too). Things like this inspire me to make songs, not because I feel bad for them, because I dont. Its just the beauty of the pure Animal in the Human coming out that inspires me to make a violent sort of music. Reading always helps inspire me, lots of kids today don't fucking read for some reason anything other than the lyrics in a CD booklet. So hopefully people will start looking for things like this and read and make some good music. Because music SUCKS nowadays, need more music from the heart than from the Dollar Bill.

I type too much.

Thats funny, most of the stuff I record is done this way.

Most of the good songs that I wrote were inspired by me just fucking around on the piano, or the guitar.

My G string on my acoustic guitar has been broken for years, and I haven't fixed this yet. Even though I suck at guitar in general, regardless of missing strings, I have came up with pretty cool riffs.

Good advice, I also vouch for this, because this how I write most of my shit.

Agreed. But I still managed to read through all of that, even while my retinas were burning at the sight of this gay lcd screen.

Glad you liked my ways of recording, good to see someone else does the same shit I do. I tried many methods but this one works the best I think. Recording Drunk is kinda weird, because it sounds WIN when you're blasted but when you're sober you kinda go LOLWAT!?

woah, wall of text here. I'll read it in a bit.

For now, tl;dr but I see it's about recording technique.
