Need Doom recommendations?

I've recently even been able to appreciate Funeral and November's Doom. I've been in a doomy mood lately.

Also, where is the love for Yob, Cthulhu?

Yeah, I need to get some of their stuff. A friend showed me them on Last.fm, but they didn't have anything from the newest CD, which he said was the best. I need to check out the new CD, apparently.

Man, they took a four year break, so I was unsure about it, but it is amazing. Not their best though. Their best is Catharsis.

I shall check out both, then.

I have been using this thread a good bit lately. Been really getting into a lot of Traditional Doom in the past month or so.

From your list my favorites are Candlemass, Reverend Bizarre, Solstice, Hour of 13, Witchfinder General, Cirith Ungol, and Saint Vitus.

I hate to say it, but I think I has a new favorite genre.

I had forgotten how awesome Blood Farmers are. If you like Black Sabbath then check them out for sure. They do the style without going into Stoner territory like most of these bands do.

Doom is one of my very favorite genres. It's also the only genre I can think of that has subgenres that are ALL good. Not that I'm saying all the bands are good. Just the subgenres.

Trad, stoner, sludge, drone, death, funeral, black, etc. It doesn't matter. It's ALL good.

Excellent band. Sometimes get's lumped into all that depressive/suicidal crap but it's not. I hate it when people compare bands like this to Xasthur. Fuck all that shit.

I have their album downloaded. I think I've listened to it, but I'll need to do it again because I didn't really pay attention to it (used it as background music).

There's way too much missing from that list...

Like Switchblade, and Om, and delicious Acid Witch. Worth noting, I didn't check to see if those were on the list, though the only one I think might be on the list is Om.

Acid Witch is horror/stoner metal isn't it? At any rate, awesome band. Om belongs here, yes. YOB of course, Middian, A Storm Of Light...there's too much awesome missing. Never heard of Switchblade though.
