Shangren

Oriental folk/death metal. Influences cited as Chthonic and Eluveitie, seem rather accurate as they mix death with folk melodies in much the same way as Eluveitie. Check em out if it seems like something you'd like:

Interesting, though not really my thing. They sound a little too "foreign" for me.

The actual death metal bits weren't bad, but I found the "folk" instruments to be really annoying.

i love folk melodies, so i was quite fond of the whole thing.

The Oriental Folk parts were kinda odd, but still good, something different.

Also, they do Death Metal much better than Eluveitie. Just sayin.

I thought you might like it. I'd like to find others who experimented with such a sound. It'd be nice if in the future, this band used more native folk instrumentation, though.

Decent. To give Eluveitie credit where it is due, the Ven demo is pretty sweet.

I liek dis. Good mix of Death and Folk.

Pery has been liking a lot of Folk metal thanks to Enslaved, Borknagar, Primordial, and Agalloch.

To the Nameless Dead is clearly the best Primordial album.

I enjoy it well enough.

I really like their first album too.

Haven't listened to that one yet...so far I only have TtND

It is back when they were still black metal.

I'll go for that one next.
