We need a thread about Bathory. Pioneer of black and "viking" metal. So, favourite albums? Which era is best?

I don't like the BM material at all really; the Viking stuff is awesome though. Nordland I being one of the finest musical achievements ever.

Nordland II is my favorite, followed by Hammerheart and then Nordland I.

Of course Under The Sign of the Black Mark and the debut are awesome, but I think the albums listed above are a lot more original and overall better.

You are both tools. Under the Sign of the Black Mark is clearly the best, followed by the debut, followed by Blood Fire Death.

Their viking stuff my favorite, but it's a hard choice.

Bathory, The Return......, and Under the Sign are the most evil albums ever!

I didn't like The Return as much as either the debut or the following album. It is good, but not as remarkable.

Been liking what I've heard by them. Any suggestions for where to start?

Oblivion is a terrible video game.

That is an objectively bad game. The characters all look and speak weirdly and RPGs in general are lame.

The Nordland albums are the best IMO.

All of his stuff was really good. Only Requiem and Octagon were misses. Sad, sad misses.

Anyone ever listen to Quorthon's other band? It's just called Quorthon.
I'm sure black metal purist idiots wouldn't care for it, but it's decent. It's just him playing more alternative rock/classic rock/classic punk type stuff. Some of it has the black metal and Viking metal feel to it as well. Some songs are pretty epic, like "Boy."
