PostSubject: Morbid Angel   Morbid Angel EmptyThu May 27, 2010 6:25 pm

Only recently started really getting into them. I'd tried them out briefly a long time ago, and apparently wasn't really paying attention, as I dismissed them after a short while. Decided to give them another listen a couple weeks ago, and I really can't see what I didn't get before. Anywho, amazing band, one of my current favorites, needs thread. Altars of Madness and Blessed Are the Sick are my favorites.

Discuss.

Nop. Formulas Fatal to the Flesh is the best one. Followed by Blessed are the Sick and Damnation. Covenant is tied for third at best.

Formulas is OK. I haven't listened to it much, but it didn't really impress me.

Damnation is good, I love the sludgy sound to it. Blessed is kinda boring IMO.

I can't really explain why Covenant is my favorite. To me it seems like they took everything from the two earlier albums and made it slower, but still blindingly fast at some points, and it makes it a whole lot better to listen to in my opinion.

Formulas is great because of the lack of David Vincent. As an artist, he was amazing, but as a writer, he fails. Trey and Pete wrote the whole thing. I really like the ambient tracks on it and the death metal stuff on it is the most inspired in their entire career. The Lovecraft refferences were also at their most Lovecraftian, good solid album is a good solid album.

Damnation is awesome, I don't know the name of the song, but there is one terrible song on it that sounds nothing like Morbid Angel. You completely forget that song exists when you hear Dawn of the Angry though, quite possibly the best Morbid Angel track. Cover art sucks though.

Bump.

Anyone heard the new album? A couple of good moments, but otherwise very mediocre.

I have yet to hear it for myself, but from what I've heard it's awful. Still might give it a go for myself later, but I'm in no hurry.

I can't say I find it to be terrible, but then I do have a terrible taste in music...

Just the reactions I've read. Again, I still haven't given it a go, but then, I don't much care for them post-Covenant anyway.

I'll give it a run eventually.
