This is a thread to discuss neofolk, it's variants, etc.
For anyone new to the genre, here are some recommendations:
Nest, from Finland, sit on the lengthier and more atmospheric side of the spectrum, their second album has longer sons and is more minimalistic.

Sol Invictus, one of the pioneers whose best work is when they blend neofolk with industrial and neoclassical music.

Kiss the Anus of a Black Cat, who I've only heard one album from, seem to have a more straightforward chorus and vocal driven neofolk style.

Empyrium, a one-time doom metal act, have some good neofolk material.

Darkwood, whose songs are in both English and German:

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, who mix the genre with industrial and neoclassical. Their best album is Apocalips, which is also the one I listen to most often. The lyrics are quite romantic/gothicy, and can be somewhat cringe inducing. The song linked is one of their folkier pieces.

Daemonia Nymphe, who put an ancient Green spin on the genre.

Death in June, another one of the pioneers.

I like most variants of the genre, but I enjoy it most when it's mixed with industrial music, such as ORE and Sol Invictus. I also don't really care for the stuff with lyrics in German most of the time, it often sounds a bit wacky.
