So we don't derail every single thread with Pery and Warluster nonsense.

Personally, I don't care too much about politics. I would rather live a quaint life on a small subsistence farm.

If a thread doesn't get derailed then it isn't a Metal Mayhem thread. Period.

I don't mind derailment, it's just uninteresting if a thread turns into political bullshit about a way of the past that will never be again and a way of the now which will be bound to change.

'Way of the past that will never be again' I find this statement offensive. It fails to consider the massive amount of support far right groups are getting in todays society. Just you wait, when the Fourth Reich rises, you will be crushed for having doubted it.

I dunno, people are too smart/stupid to repeat something that failed for the fourth time, even if it might work.

It might just be that I'm surrounded by "freedom fags" in the United States, but I doubt it will ever happen unless it's a poor country and goes relatively unnoticed.

Even if a party DID rise, they had better play their cards right or the US will just invade them with overwhelming force.

Yeah, and it would be Iraq all over again. We won't make the same mistake again, I'm sure that it won't be a revolution like it was in Hitler's Germany (The man was fucking brilliant, but let's face it, he lacked some subtlety) I think that when it comes, no one will have noticed the change to National Socialism, I think it will simply integrate itself in the minds of the world like it did with the thoughts of the Aryan people. In my opinion it is most likely to take the United States, or Germany, again.

That is very true.

Hitler's disadvantage is that he believed too strongly in his country, and thought they were invincible (which they practically were if there were a 1-1 faceoff). He really wasn't expecting the defeat in Britain, and he never changed his master plan to wait and attack Stalingrad after the defeat.

He should've invaded the USSR before Britain, because the USSR had so much time to build up their forces with the peace treaty in effect.

But, if Hitler HAD won the Battle of Britain, then who knows, we might have concentration camps in our countries Wink

And our countries would be beautiful and I would never have come to this shitpile continent.

Hitler's one mistake was attacking Stalin. Stalin had no intention of breaking the treaty with Hitler, and nor did he have any intention of destroying Hitler's country afterwards. This is evidenced by the fact that he was using their steel to build a massive Palace of the Soviets rather than build an army. That is why he was scrambling for steel when Hitler attacked, they even tore down what they had built on the Palace. Hitler had a distaste for Slavs that I don't quite understand. I'm in love with Ukrainian culture, it is quite beautiful.

Hitler wanted the resources because Germany was too limited for such massive armies, I think.

And, of course, he wanted to lead a worldwide revolution, and Communists had the same goal.

I'll read it when I get home then, too lazy for this right now.

In response to Warluster's comment in the Absurd thread, before Cthulhu deleted it:

It is a cultural issue as well as a racial issue. For example, if blacks weren't savages I wouldn't advocate their deaths, but simply their removal from my society.

Checked out the comic thing. Pretty amusing, but America didn't play that big a part in taking out Germany. Stalin did it pretty much on his own. Admittedly, the Western front was a good distraction. Also, it didn't show the mistreatment of Germany by the French post WWI, which was really important because it was the biggest factor leading to WWII.

PostSubject: Re: Political bickering   Political bickering EmptyMon Jun 07, 2010 6:11 pm

Wow, that was awesome. Hilarious, too.
I believe America DID play an important part in ending both wars, however I somewhat agree with what you said about Germany. It wasn't just France. Germany got fucked in a lot of different ways by many countries and reparations, etc. which led to depressions and people generally being upset in Germany which led to the political climate there and the beginning of WWII. People were pissed and Hitler used that to his advantage.

Also, Per, you're deluded if you think there is massive far right support in the world today.

The only major far right activities going on right now are basically the fundamentalist Muslims and their rioting and killing. And even then they're quite different in their ideologies when compared to the Nazis.

I think it's funny that so many people aren't into politics. I get why people get tired of it and everyone is sick of lying politicians. But everyone has an opinion on the issues, and that's what politics is. If you have opinions about things, then you should be into politics.

Also, it's a mistake when people try to separate things into two sides. There has never been two sides in politics. There are MANY views. Even people on the far right (or the far left) disagree w/ each other on all kinds of different things.

For example, I consider myself a libertarian, in that I believe people should be free to do whatever they want, so long as it doesn't directly harm others. Governments shouldn't be moral police. And as a libertarian I find myself agreeing with liberals on some issues and conservatives on other issues, though I do consider myself mostly leftist and I usually agree more with liberals.

I personally think that most major parties are flawed.

My point is that everyone is an individual and we all have a myriad of different thoughts on different issues and even people who are very loyal to a certain party will never agree with that party on ALL issues. You're never going to find two people that agree on every issue (politically or otherwise) even if both people are fascist, socialist, or whatever.

That's the reason America pulled out of the League of Nations.

Isolationism was pretty great. In some ways, i wish the US still practiced isolationism. Being, or trying to be the world police really isn't working out for the US. We got some serious war debt, and every nation hates the United States. On top of that, our own congress, being the incompetent dumbfucks they are, has trouble NOT passing laws that will screw us. They've turned the United States into the Big corporate insurance policy.

Is your big company in debt? Are your stocks tumbling down? Don't worry, the US congress has your back, and is on it's way to passing a bill that will hand you over a trillion dollars. Are you an oil company? Did you have an oopsie daisy with the oil rig and are worried about being responsible for tons of oil in the ocean? Don't sweat it, our president will take sole responsibility. You just sit back and relax, take a vacation even!

The US should stop all of their wars, dump congress, the president, his administration, and some of the judges on their ass and start over. It would also be a nice touch to stop lobbyist, special interest groups and the like from influencing the next elections. I can only dream, I guess.

I agree with most of that RiD. I wish we could go back to what the Founding Fathers envisioned. They really created something almost perfect, but that vision has been seriously perverted.

The Founding Fathers seem to have made one big mistake. When they created America's government and the Constitution, etc. they made it purposely vague so that it could still be interpreted in later (modern) times and everything would still work.

Sounds like a genius idea, except...they left too much room for interpretation and now things have gotten out of hand and changed a TON since the time of the Founding Fathers. The government isn't even close to being the same, even though we're told and taught that it mostly is. Bullshit.

I'm a fan of a flexible interpretation of the Constitution. Times do change and you can fight that but it won't change much. I hate the strict interpreters.
But the thing is that even though it should have been flexible so later generations could use it, it's gotten to the point where we changed everything, incl. some of the core concepts the country was founded on.

It's tricky to form a document such as the constitution. It must be sturdy, yet flexible enough to survive the sands of time. The founding fathers got it down to the best of their ability (while still being slave owners, lol), and they knew that someday something would happen, like in todays world, the constitution would be perverted. That's why they gave us a bunch of documented warnings, written in the declaration of independence, a bunch of letters, and quotes that you can even fucking look up online to this day.

Those warnings are now ignored, or interpreted to be less serious or less pertaining to our current situation. The average american citizen could easily do some research on google, or for the less lazy, their local public library (more reliable than the internet), and easily find out how different, and FUCKED our nation is from the one in the 1700-1800's. But I think deep down, no matter how much I hope, that the average citizen will always remain willfully ignorant.
