REAL emo

Does anyone here listen to "real" emo? Started in the mid 80s by bands like Rites of Spring and got fairly big in the underground scene in the 90s. Particularly in the mid west.

ANYONE?

I've heard a little of it, not enough to form much of an opinion, though.

Mid 90s emo was my favourite. It was basically post-hardcore, bands like Evergreen and the Pine. Some bands like the Man I Fell In Love With weren't really emo but they were dragged into the scene for some reason.

Only bearable emo song is Boston and that is only because it was in the Big Bang Theory. Emo has always, and will always suck. It comes from a largely shitty genre (Dead Kennedy's, Black Flag, The Clash, and Dayglo Abortions clearly exceptions) and a genre that fans of good punk know to be dead.

It stemmed from punk, hence the list of good punk bands. It is essentially a continuation of Hardcore, which is why most metalcore bands sound like emo shit, and it is even worse than Hardcore in that it deals with pussy subject matter typically heard only in girl's locker rooms. Actually I plan to kill myself when I get bored of life. People have been brainwashed by the media, suicide isn't something people do just because they are sad, or weak, or full of rage. A large percentage of suicides are people who just don't have much to live for.
