I like them decently. Half of SMRC is gold but some of the songs are kinda eh. Inquisitors of Satan is my fave. Succubus of All Vices is so good.

I've actually listened to the occasional Marduk or Venom song and like 'em, but I'm rarely in a black metal mood. This is rather crappy...

They really are two different bands, one with the old vocalist and the newer one with Mikko since the sound has changed so much. Both of them are good though and neither are easy to get into. It's not surprising you MM people pass them off as meh.

If it isn't good music and you can clearly see that does it really matter how experienced you are in its overall genre?
Now, had he never listened to Black Metal in his life, seen the opening sentence of the original post, listened to the song, decided it was shit, and then said that Black Metal sucked because of it, then you'd have a case to argue. However, as it stands, what he did was fine.
