So, DH just showed me this band, and I was listening to one of their instrumental tracks and it intrigued me so much that I had to check out the rest of their stuff. Though I'm frankly not a fan of the vocals, I really love the music. I've only checked out the CD Emissaries, but it's quite the experience. Anyone else listen to this band? They're a Middle Eastern themed Black/Thrash band for those who don't know.

I love middle eastern folk music, so why haven't I heard of this band before!?

I just DLed Emissaries. So far, I am NOT disappointed. You say you love ME folk, eh? What are some of your favorite artists? I have yet to find very many, but I absolutely love Knossos (Middle-Eastern/Ambient). Do you have any you'd suggest?

Well, i shouldn't say middle eastern folk music. I more specifically like persian folk music. I think I've already shown you Niyaz. There is also Mohsen Namjoo, a great iranian folk artist.

And Maneli Jamal, he mixes persian folk, and other acoustic styles together nicely. Scratch that, he mainly plays other acoustic styles. Bad suggestion for persian folk music I guess, but it's still good.

Just check out and browse iranian.com/main/music for a while. There are iranian pop, rock, ambient and folk artist listed there.

I've never heard of Knossos though. I'll have to check them out.

I'm not even sure they should be placed in BM, now that I've listened more. They seem to have a thrash/death base with BM vox and play in the phrygian scale. I guess it's up to interpretation where exactly they should be placed.

Yeah, they don't completely fit any one category. If I had to place them, though, I'd just leave them here.

Black metal is one of the most diverse genres of music, and I also like doom metal, thrash metal, and the Floridian death metal scene. My taste in music is actually pretty wide.
