I didn't care much for the new Eluveitie album, but my copy of Spirit is well worn.

It is a shame they didn't show up on this years Pagan Fest as planned.

I really enjoy the Eluveitie songs with the female vocals that I've heard, are there many on any album? Or do you know a similar band with more female vocals?

They are kind of splattered around the album.

Also, Female vocalists are a dime a dozen in folk metal. Just look around. Lately I have been listening to a band called NATURAL SPIRIT which have a very folk sound that features similar harsh vocal / female vocal combo as Eluveitie

Uls Elveti is by far my favorite song. It is sing songy whilst retaining a solid folk sound. Its from the Spirit album. Check it out.

The Illusionist has to be my fav song by Scar Symmetry so far. That chorus is epic.

Guys, either talk about Eluveitie, or wake up the scar symmetry thread on page two.

Jeeze Knightfall, in your own forum too... tisk tisk tisk

On topic:

I haven't heard a lot of Eluveitie. Maybe about three or four songs. I really like their song Inis Mona.

Their metal stuff is good but their new acoustic folk stuff is terrible.

Disagree. I like both their metal and Evocation. The acoustic folk stuff might not be everybody's pace, and it's certainly not metal, but it is quite unique and well done. I love how they keep the old traditional gaulish lyrics. I do like Spirit and Slania better, since there's more variety, but Evocation was quite cool, imo.

Oh, and also, really enjoying this band lately.

Will have to give it a listen tomorrow when I has more time.

Also, never really read through this post, what the fuck is this shit, Kerby?

Kerberos wrote:

Their acoustic Folk stuff is fucking great. I almost listen to it more than their Metal stuff, they really should have the female singer involved in more of their music. More of their material should sound like Slania's Song.

The female vocalist is decent but their acoustic folk material is simply boring and flaccid. Its got no energy to it as far as I can remember. Though I haven't listened to it in months. Because it was terrible.

Love Slania's Song, and I also love Evocation. I don't find it boring or flaccid at all, but I'm generally a fan of folk, so I'm certain that contributes.
