| So, ladies and gentlemen, the purpose of this thread is to list your top 10 favourite bands, thus providing the rest of the forum populace with useless information about your listening habits at the time of your post.
My current list:
1. Moonsorrow 2. Nokturnal Mortum 3. Sol Invictus 4. Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio 5. Agalloch 6. Blut Aus Nord 7. Jesu 8. Drudkh 9. Vibrasphere 10. Tristania
Rough order only.

- 1. Skillet: Sometimes (considerably better song for most of you people to start out with on Skillet)
2. Protest the Hero: Turn Soonest To The Sea 3. The Syncope Threshold: Speak Now Or Forever Hold Your Peace 4. Kamelot: The Human Stain 5. Disturbed: The Night 6. Origin: Antithesis 7. Within Temptation: Jillian (I'd Give My Heart) 8. Celldweller: Frozen 9. Demon Hunter: Undying 10. Sirenia: The Other Side Fuck. I actually liked Demon Hunter and Sirenia enough to put them in my top 10? What the fuck is wrong with me? New list. 1. Disturbed: Serpentine (haters gonna hate, but their new album rocks) 2. The Syncope Threshold: The Conchoid of Truth...In Blood... (I refuse to call them by their new name until they make an album under it) 3. Crimfall: Where Waning Wings Lead 4. Freedom Call: Palace of Fantasy 5. Kamelot: The Human Stain 6. Kansas: Icarus (Borne on Wings of Steel) 7. Alestorm: To The End of Our Days 8. Skillet: Sometimes 9. Breaking Benjamin: Until the End 10. Celldweller: URSA Minor (Neutron Mix) As said earlier, haters gonna hate. Though I expect you'll find this top 10 more palateable than previous versions.

| It's about even honestly, half the bands are the same. Actually, can you link me a couple of good songs by Kansas? Might as well check 'em out. | |

Just as a warning, they're classic rock, if you didn't know that already. Icarus - Borne on Wings of Steel Carry On Wayward Son Miracles Out Of Nowhere

| I didn't know, but I've been binging on non-metal stuff lately and thought I might as well check them out. I'll report back soon. | |

If you like them here's some more classic rock for ya. Petra - Beat the System Petra - It Is Finished Another warning though, the above stuff is blatantly Christian. I dunno if you'll take offense or not. Just warning.

| Oh by the way, the current top 10 is subject to change in structure as I realized that there are albums by some of those artists that I have not yet downloaded or listened to yet, so gonna be working on that, and we'll see how that mixes those up. | |

| The Petra songs were rather unremarkable, neither good nor enjoyable, just bland. | |

Meh they were a long shot, the main reason I like 'em is 'cause they were literally what I grew up on. Them and the earliest songs by Skillet, way before they became mainstream.

| I would like to do away with a lot of this thread and perhaps start the new one with Kerb's last post or something like that. Obvious hint is obvious, Kerby.
This shifts around a lot by genre depending on my moods, but here's the basic idea.
1. Devin Townsend and associated acts: Ziltoid the Omniscient/Deconstruction (albums) 2. Emperor: The Majesty of the Night Sky 3. Demilich: When the Sun Drank the Weight of Water 4. Bathory: Woman of Dark Desires 5. Inquisition: Rituals Of Human Sacrifice For Lord Baal 6. Anal Cunt: Top 40 Hits (album) 7. Acid Bath: Scream of the Butterfly 8. Candlemass: At the Gallows End 9. Ahab: The Hunt 10. Mortician: World Damnation
A more accurate list would range to about 30, and this isn't in much of an order (the numbers are mostly just so I know how many are there), just a general list to cover some (but not nearly all) bases.

| Hint taken, I'll do a forum wide clean-up over the next couple of days. PM if there's anything you're not happy with and I'll fix it up. | |

| On a bit of a drone binge there, Pery?
I've been checking out Black Boned Angel myself, Verdun is pretty decent. Though I admit I have yet to listen to it start to finish.

Anything new with you? Not a whole lot. Graduated high school, will be attending college, trying to get a fucking bass, etc. Aside from the "now you're in the 'real world'" thing, rather uneventful.

I've been checking out Black Boned Angel myself, Verdun is pretty decent. Though I admit I have yet to listen to it start to finish. My manic episode ended quite abruptly a couple months ago and I've been pretty depressed since, drone has been treating me pretty decently. Bliss and Void Inseperable is a better place to start with Black Boned Angel than Verdun, it is longer, but in my opinion more interesting. @Knightfall Get an Ibanez. I'd recommend the SR line, and you should go with at least an SR500 as they are the cheapest model to have Bartolini MK-1 pickups in them. SR500s go for around $700, if you have a couple more hundred dollars you are willing to spend then you should look at the SR700s and higher, as they are greatly improved versions of the already excellent SR500. If you are on a budget even cheap $300 ibanez gios are pretty decent, but don't have nearly as nice tones as the more expensive models.

| Well, since this will be my first bass, I'll probably go for the cheaper one and work my way up to better models as I get a better feel for it. I'm on a budget relative to how much I get for the guitar I'm selling and also have to get my amp fixed or replaced. I really wish I'd gotten a bass from the start, probably my favorite instrument.
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll definitely keep them in mind when I go to buy it.
